3. When I connect to your site I am asked to download and install software. Why do I need to do this?
PSS on the web is a Java based application. In order to use PSS you must have the latest version of the Java 2 Runtime Environment installed. Currently the latest version is J2RE 1.4.2_03.
4. When I connect to your site for the first time it tries to download the Java program but I get errors during the download. What should I do?
A small amount of users have experienced problems downloading and installing the online version of Java either due to problems on the local PC or local network issues. You can download an offline version that does not require a connection to the internet during the install. You can get it at Sun's website located at http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp
Look for the link called JRE and click download under that link. You will need to accept the license agreement and then locate the offline installation file on the following page. Download it to your local hard drive and install it.
5. I have other Java based applications that had been using before I installed PSS, now they don't work right anymore. What do I do?
Some java programs when they are written are designed for use with a certain version of java. When you update the version of java on your computer those applications may not understand the new version of java and stop working properly. One thing you can try is to open the "Java Plug-In" applet in control panel.
Click on the "Browser" tab and uncheck the "Internet Explorer" box. Click Apply and close the applet. This will prevent Internet Explorer from using the newest version of Java all the time by default and should allow your old program to work again.
If your old program still does not work contact the programs manufacturer for a solution.
