Hamburg Student Wins 2004 ITT Industries Scholarship

White Plains, NY – ITT Industries, Inc. announced that Joshua Morrow, a senior at Hamburg Area High School in Hamburg, PA has been awarded an ITT Industries scholarship to study at NASCAR Technical Institute.

Josh Morrow is one of 18 sons and daughters of ITT Industries employees selected to receive the company scholarship this year. Josh is the son of Stephen and Trudy Morrow of 520 Hill Drive Hamburg. Stephen is Global Manager of Materials Technology for ITT Goulds Pumps in Ashland. Josh is an Honors Student at Hamburg Area High School. He also attends Berks County Career & Technology Center where he participates in the Automotive Technology Program. He plans on attending UTI - Nascar Technical Institute; located in Mooresville, NC this fall .

Josh’s outside interests include cars and racing. Last February, Josh participated in the Greater Philadelphia Automotive Technology Competition where he won first place. He also had the opportunity to compete at the National Automotive Technology Competition in New York City where he placed 5th. He won significant scholarship awards at both competitions.

In 2003 Josh was awarded "Rookie of the Year" in the Central PA Legends Racing Series, and he continues to race competitively within the INEX PRO class. He hopes for a career with Nascar.

ITT Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and personal accomplishments.

Under the program, the amount of each scholarship is based on the financial needs of the student recipient in attending the college of his or her choice.

In the 23 years since this program was formed, 1,412 scholarships have been awarded. The program is administered by an independent organization called Scholarship and Recognition Programs, a division of the Educational Testing Service in Princeton, NJ. Winners were selected on their demonstrated academic achievement and promise, community service and leadership. Children of ITT Industries’ Board of Directors and senior officers are not eligible for scholarships offered under this program.
