ITT - Goulds Introduces New Vertical Turbine O-Head

    10/20/2008

Seneca Falls, NY October 20, 2008 – ITT Goulds new O-Head™ design enhances the reliability and performance of vertical turbine pumps. The patent pending O-Head allows smoother running with lower vibration levels exceeding all major international rotating equipment specifications.  This new discharge head also offers the added benefit of improved efficiency and mechanical condition due to its mitered radius waterway. Its unique structural static and dynamic Finite Element Analysis (FEA) design for stress and deflection (using parametric modeling) ensures the reliability of every Goulds vertical turbine pump. The O-head is available on vertical products sizes 16” diameter discharge and above.

    Additional features include:

    • Design per ASME Sec. VIII Div. 2
    • Enhanced structural strength/stiffness
    • Stresses well below the allowable limits
    • Less relative deflection at seal housing and motor support plate
    • Reduction of hydraulic losses and better pressure distribution in the elbow transition due to the small seal housing pipe design
    • 360 degrees access to the seal housing and coupling during maintenance to facilitate replacement of mechanical seal or packing
    • Hydraulics are improved from traditional 90 degree discharge head design
    • Increased seal life due to the reduced structural deflection
    • Unique design for each application for maximum reliability
    • Shorter height and length than the conventional discharge head to reduce pump vibration
    • Smaller baseplate area requiring less foundation grouting surface
